Gemplus Technology chosen by Saflink for SureAccess Multifactor Biometric Reader

Gemplus’s GemProx contactless reader has been combined with an all-weather biometric smart card reader manufactured by Saflink. The integrated reader is designed to secure access to both airports and seaports and complies with HSPD-12 and FIPS 201 mandates.

SCM Microsystems' physical access terminal secures entry at U.S. Air Force facility

SCM Microsystems’ physical access control terminals, designed to support the United States’ 3.8 million Common Access Control cards and the new CAC contactless interface cards scheduled for distribution in the next couple of months, have been deployed at an unnamed U.S. Air Force facility.

Saflink and ImageWare partner on credentialing solution to issue biometric smart cards for physical access

Saflink has announced a partnership with identity management solutions provider ImageWare Systems, allowing Saflink’s SureAccess to integrate with ImageWare’s secure identification software development kit. Through the partnership, organizations such as ports and airports will be able to use both solutions to implement and manage custom credentialing systems.

FIPS 201, physical/logical access convergence covered by Smart Card Alliance at ISC West 2006

The Smart Card Alliance is sponsoring a live demonstration of an end-to-end FIPS 201 identity management system process during the ISC West 2006 conference in Las Vegas April 5-7. The demo will cover enrollment, registration, printing, issuance, activation and use of a PIV card.

Lenel OpenCard Readers are now compliant with U.S. Government FIPS 201 Medium Level Assurance requirements, and also support backward compatibility with Lenel Prox cards, thanks to its private label OEM agreement that now allows XceedID multi-technology readers to be produced under the Lenel name.

HID unveils multi-technology iCLASS contactless smart card and proximity reader for seamless access control technology upgrades

HID has introduced a new dual reader that handles both prox and contactless, making it easier for existing customers to upgrade from their current 125 kHz prox technology to HID’s 13.56 MHZ iCLASS cards. The reader is expected to be available in the second quarter.

Sagem Morpho enters FIPS 201 pre-certification

Sagem Morpho says it is seeking FIPS 201 certification on its JD-ID Mark 64 v.1 card with a PIV applet and its PIV Client API v.1 to meet the requirements of Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12.
