Probaris Inc. is participating in an emergency management demonstration coordinated by the FEMA’s Office of National Capital Region Coordination (NCRC) during the week of May 18-22.
The Spring Ahead demonstration brings together more than 30 organizations in 20 locations across the United States, from the National Capital Region to Hawaii. The objective of the event is to improve the crisis readiness of Federal and Mutual Aid Emergency Response Officials (F/EROs).
Probaris will use its software suite, Probaris ID, to issue PIV interoperable credentials to F/EROs from the State of West Virginia and the National Capital Region. FEMA NCRC has developed several emergency response scenarios for the Spring Ahead demonstration, including: the relocation of essential government personnel via air, water and land assets; routine and emergency access into seaports; and out-of-area ingress for federal disaster response and mutual aid personnel.
All of the scenarios will include participation from law enforcement officers with Emergency Support Function 13, Public Safety and Security, designations. Probaris-issued credentials will be used to validate both the identities and the ESF designations of the emergency response officials, and to control ingress and egress to the disaster site.
Probaris has equipped a mobile command center with its Probaris ID suite of identity products which enables travel to special events and disaster sites to issue FIPS 201 interoperable credentials. This demonstration builds on Probaris’ issuance of credentials at several of the past DHS/FEMA exercises to show the use of just-in-time credentials in multiple emergency response scenarios.
